Project Background

In June 1988, four underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the property of a small auto repair shop (formerly a gas station), leaving behind a high-concentration dissolved hydrocarbon plume and separate-phase hydrocarbons (SPH). A year later, four monitoring wells were installed, which were monitored quarterly for the next 9 years at a cost to the owner reaching over $40,000. During this time there was no significant remediation of the site.

Solutions Provided

In 1997, RRM, Inc. took over the project with these objectives in mind:

By March 1, 2002,RRM fulfilled the above objectives to the full satisfaction of our client and received a case closure letter for the site from the Central Coast Region Regional Water Quality Control Board and Santa Cruz County. As a result of RRM's professionalism and attention to detail, the site owner was granted over $133,000 of reimbursement from the UST Fund, obtained final case closure to a difficult and costly environmental problem, and regained full market value for his real-estate investment.
